Trauma Recovery Webinar
The Harborview Injury Prevention Research Center (HIPRC) recognizes the importance of trauma recovery and has put together a Crash Course in Trauma Recovery Webinar for the public. This was presented by Dr. Pat Obuchowski and the webinar emphasized the vital importance of understanding and properly addressing trauma, particularly in organizations led by people of color.
Dr. Obuchowski explained the classifications of different types of trauma, as well as the unique ways that each type of trauma can affect people of all ages and backgrounds in different ways. This was further elaborated upon with a discussion of the potential long-term impacts of trauma, such as the way it can lead to difficulties in focusing and the development of addiction and self-medication behaviors with substances.
The webinar has been well-received, with a 98% satisfaction rate from viewers. This highlights how important trauma recovery is, and how organizations like the HIPRC can provide valuable resources to empower people and communities.
